Insurance & Fees

I accept several major insurance plans and also offer self-pay options including a sliding scale through Open Path Collective. Cost should never be the reason you don’t get the support you need. Please know that Open Path has very linited spots available.

If you have questions about whether your insurance is accepted or what your out-of-pocket cost might look like, we can talk through it during your free 15-minute consultation. No pressure, no commitment—just real answers about what to expect.

Insurance Plans Accepted

I’m in network with

    • Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina
(except Blue Value and Blue Local plans)
    • Cigna
    • Aetna

Being in network means your sessions are billed directly to your insurance and you only pay your copay or coinsurance amount. I take care of the insurance paperwork and billing.

If your insurance isn’t listed here you can still work with me using out-of-network benefits or paying out-of-pocket. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network reimbursement—I’ll give you a superbill you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Medicare

I do not accept Medicare.

Out-of-Network & Self-Pay Rates

Good Faith Estimate

If you’re paying out-of-pocket or using out-of-network benefits, I’m required to give you a Good Faith Estimate of what your sessions will cost before we start. I’ll provide that to you upfront so there are no surprises.

Session Rates:

    • Initial assessment (60 minutes): $185
    • Individual therapy session (53 minutes): $130
    • Crisis calls (15 minutes): $45

Crisis calls or consultations outside our regular scheduled sessions are billed at $45 per 15 minutes. A 30-minute call would be $90 and so on.

Payment Options & Sliding Scale

How Payment Works

I accept:

    • Credit or debit cards
    • HSA/FSA cards

Your payment information is stored securely through a HIPAA-compliant system and you’ll be charged at the time of each session. If you’re using insurance you’ll only be charged your copay or coinsurance amount.

I’m not able to accept other payment methods right now.

Sliding Scale Through Open Path

For those without insurance or who need a more affordable rate, I offer sliding scale sessions through Open Path Collective. Ask me about Open Path options during your free consultation. Please know that there are very limited spots available.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule just let me know at least 24 hours before your appointment and there’s no charge.

If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or don’t show up for your session there’s a $105 missed appointment fee that will be charged to your card on file. Insurance doesn’t cover missed appointments so this applies whether you’re using insurance or paying out-of-pocket.

Emergencies happen and I understand that. If something genuinely unexpected comes up we can talk about it.

That said therapy only works when it’s consistent. If you miss two or more appointments without canceling in advance I’ll need to refer you to another therapist so your spot can go to someone who’s ready for regular sessions. The work we do together needs consistency to actually help.

Questions About Insurance or Fees?

Navigating insurance can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. Before scheduling your first appointment, you are responsible for checking with your insurance ahead of time so that there aren’t any financial surprises that might occur with deductible plans. Sometimes insurance won’t cover sessions until your deductible is met, and you will be responsible for the full contracted rate of payment.

The number to call is listed on the back of your insurance card under “Behavioral Health” or “Mental Health.” Here are the list of questions to ask previous to our first appointment:

    • Is Celine Bongaerts, LCMHC in-network with my plan?
    • What is my copayment for outpatient mental health therapy?
    • Is there a deductible I need to meet before my plan begins covering outpatient mental health therapy appointments? If so, what is that amount?
    • Does my plan cover telehealth (video appointments) using codes 90837 and 90791 for outpatient mental health treatment?

Once you’ve checked in with your insurance, reach out and we’ll get your free 15-minute consultation scheduled. Any remaining questions? I’m happy to help!
